March Happy Mail: The Highland Cow That Started It All

This month’s kit started in the most random way.

I designed a sweet Highland cow.

That was it. No theme. No big March plan. I just loved her soft fringe and slightly serious expression and thought, well… she needs a place to live.

Apparently that place was March.

From there, it unfolded the way creative things usually do for me. I started pulling in tartan patterns. Deep oxblood reds. Forest greens. Creamy parchment tones. Before long, my desk looked less like early spring and more like a countryside road trip through Scotland.

Full honesty, I haven’t been to Scotland or Ireland yet. But I’ve always felt drawn to Celtic and Gaelic culture, and I credit my Irish husband for that in the best way. There’s something about the history, the textiles, the landscapes, and even the pub culture that feels warm and grounded.

Every year we make a St. Patrick’s themed meal at home. Nothing flashy. Just good food, usually bangers and mash, something cozy, and an excuse to slow down and make it feel intentional.

That’s the energy behind this kit.

Think:

A rainy afternoon.
A cozy pub while traveling.
A plate of bangers and mash.
Layered paper textures.
A planning session with depth instead of pastel.

I’ve been using the meal planner for our March dinner plan, starting a new book wish list, and layering the tartan tip-ins behind neutral inserts to add a little structure without overwhelming everything.

And sometimes that mood becomes a full kit.
